**UPDATE: food still good, even with being delivered (used postmates) ** This restaurant is very clean, well organized but is small (not ideal for large parties to dine in; suggest take out or catering). The food is very good; they give you a cornbread muffin and drinks, to start, has you look over the menu. The waiter, Tim, was very professional, friendly and well informed about the menu items. I'd recommend the food, especially if you love/miss/crave soul food. The restaurant was pretty busy, but the wait was not too long.
Ms. Jazz was fabulous. She was patient with us since we were from Texas. She explained the history of the the restaurant and helped us pick our meal... Babyyyyy you will not be disappointed. We had the ribs, chicken, and oxtails... We left with enough food left for a midnight snack... Every time we are in town we will be eating here.... We appreciate you Ms. Jazz and thank you for your awesome customer service. By the way the sides were also delicious and the peach cobbler had me smacking my lips....
This place is very great it tastes like your grandmas soul food. I ordered the meat loaf dinner comes with 3 large sizes and 1 cornbread. There sweet potatoes pie is on point crust is thick. Taste like your old school Auntie baked it.
I don’t eat meat BUT the people in my life LOVE EllaEm’s and, as a local guide, I felt like I needed to show some love and mention the feedback I hear constantly about this restaurant. The chicken and waffles is a staple that reminds everybody who visits, from the South, of good ole Southern comfort food. The greens are perfect and the cornbread is worth driving across 3 states for if you’re craving soul food that won’t disappoint. Please support this restaurant and help our community’s restaurants thrive!
Me and my boyfriend were visiting and decided to eat here after his aunt recommended it and it was the worst decision. I had the fried chicken, cornbread, macaroni and cheese, yams and cabbage. My fried chicken was lacking seasoning, the macaroni was watery and the cabbage was crunchy. The yams were the only thing that was enjoyable. My boyfriend had the fried pork chops, cornbread, greens, mac and cheese and dressing. His pork chops lacked seasoning as well. The greens were bland, and the Mac and cheese was watery. Both of our cornbread was hard. I took one bite and tossed it to the side. What make matters worst, all of our sides were warm and we were the FIRST ones there when they first opened. It was clear that our food wasn’t fresh.
