Very nice quaint place tucked away and was ideal for where I needed to be an hour later. Also had for dessert very vanilla cake and caramel eyes. The catfish was delicious and sides greens and yams with cornbread yummy. Our waiter was very attentive and was pleasant to interact with. It received a 4 out of 5 because the chicken needed a tad more seasoning with the waffles. Both desserts are mouth watering and a must have. Will definitely be back.
I loved the way this place looks. It was more upscale than most soul food restaurants. The cakes are arranged in the dining area so you can decide what you want. They also give you a sample. The sweet potato cake was my favorite. The service was great! The owner came out and spoke with us. He was really nice. I will be going back again and again. Oh and the food was delicious. We had so much we were able to take home food!!
Went here for the first time last night, and it's probably going to be my new favorite place to go. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the restaurant was clean, and the food was top quality. My husband, who's from Kentucky, gave the highest praise to the fried catfish and yams, and I can't wait to go back to have their fried chicken. All of the sides we tried were fantastic, and there is no way to give justice to how amazing the desserts were! Big shout out to Miss Karolina for taking such good care of our group!
Utterly amazing! I have traveled around the country and the world and this place is stand out in excellence. I've been so disappointed with our local and of state soul food establishments. No website. Poor service. Slow. So this is truly a breath of fresh air. The service in this establishment is like being a guest in a good friends home with momma serving the meal. The food was fantastic. I tried some of my wife's meal too and every morsel was "slap your mamma" good!!! The cakes are scrumptious. Btw, in case you're unfamiliar with "slap your mamma" good, it's where you have some REALLY GOOD FOOD on your plate and it is so GOOD, if she reached for a piece you would be like... hold up mamma, and draw back your hand until she backs off... Definitely make it through if you are within a 200 mile radius or so of this spot.
I initially visited this place based solely on the ratings. Once I arrived mid week, and began to read the reviews, and the owners response to criticism is beyond rude. No surprise when I got sick after having the food, and didn’t finish my review, a snark remark was left in reply. But fear not, see below: I arrived for a late lunch and ordered the catfish, with Mac and cheese, and yams craving the taste from home, and decided not to cook. Pros: The fish came out hot The cornbread was good I was offered to sample the cake, and declined. The waitress was attentive, their was 2 other parties there The lemonade was good, if you like overly sweet Lemonade. Cons: The catfish was over cooked, and the oil needs to be changed The yams were cold The Mac and cheese had a bitter taste to it The food made me sick The owner is clearly rude, and was disappointed by his review responses to anyone stating a real review. OWNERS RESPONSE: Because I answer all reviews I have to say something here. So you leave this and say nothing and you hope someone does what, listen. Change your world and you won't feel the need to hurt others to make yourself feel better. Moving on. IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: life is good, and you should learn to accept criticism. Learn from it! Grow from it, and stop taking everything so personal which is very evident in your responses. If you weren't so quick to respond in anger, you would have noticed that I am no rookie reviewer, I have written more reviews than your restaurant currently has, but as you said #Moving on!
